Most people do not even know a wine aerator exist. They go to the liquor store and buy a bottle of wine. Some people ask for recommendations and the liquor store employee points out a specific wine. If you’re lucky the employee really knows something about wine, but in most cases it is a blind recommendation based on no experience. Ask about a wine aerator at the liquor store and the confused look in their eyes answers your question.
Why should you use a wine aerator? Well, nothing can really improve the flavor of cheap wine. However, once you move up in pricing in quality of wine, a wine aerator can actually move the scale a little bit and really bring out the best of flavor in a wine. I’ve had it where I was not impressed with a wine poured straight into a glass. Then I tried the same wine poured through my Vinturi Wine Aerator and the same wine tasted so much better. It was an amazing experience actually.
As mentioned, a cheap wine is a cheap wine, but you can eventually turn a wine of low or medium quality into something more special by using a wine aerator. The overall investment into a wine aerator is small (roughly $40 or so), but if you find the right wine that “blossoms” when poured through a wine aerator, you might actually be able to save money down the road as you do not have to “upgrade” your wine taste to more expensive wines.
I highly recommend a wine aerator just for that purpose actually. I have convinced so many people already to buy one, it is proof in itself (at least for me). Read my wine aerator review about the Vinturi Wine Aerator here.
